Stress Management for Afghan National Workers o
This course
is primarily for national staff to learn more about stress and ways they can
manage their own stress. It is a valuable resource for Afghan national staff
of humanitarian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or similar
organizations; NGO staff originating from nearby countries who feel they have
much in common with national staff; and Afghan National staff of government
ministries and private sector organisations.

Cultural Awareness

specifically, in Afghanistan to understand the basic structure of cultural differences
that can lead to misunderstanding in a work context. ·

· Foreign Nationals:
Induction to Afghanistan o We can offer a range of country and cultural sensitivity and understanding Courses for foreign nationals taking up positions in Afghanistan o Experience has shown that this is a great need – many of those who are making decisions about Afghanistan and leading programmes and projects here are from elsewhere and know very little about the country and its people o This course gives foreign nationals a good background to Afghanistan as well as offering them the opportunity of formal and informal interaction with Afghan people
· Occupational Health
and Safety o Introducing a new level of safety awareness and monitoring to Afghanistan based upon accepted international standards.
o The course is a basic introduction but can be followed up with more extensive and in detail supplements depending upon your needs.
· Health o We can offer a variety of health courses, designed to meet client needs, ranging from public and community health to more advanced issues
· Environment and Ecology o Explores important environmental ecological issues relevant to the future development of Afghanistan
· Ethics and Professional Standards o Afghanistan is criticised for high levels of corruption. This course aims to encourage participants to understand ethical and professional behaviour in the workplace and beyond
· Office and Business
Administration and Skills o This course is designed with the client to provide workplace learning suited to the client’s staff members. o The course can range from a workshop through an intensive course or a long term on-the-job, mentored learning experience (with a combination of input and practical learning in the workplace)
· Financial
Administration Skills o Starting with a basic introduction to professional financial procedures, this subject can be developed further to meet the needs of the participants and the client
· Human Resource Management o This can be presented as a workshop, intensive one week course or as a 20 lesson course on basic human resource management processes and skills o It can be further developed beyond these basic introduction to a more detailed course
· Negotiation Skills o This subject can deal with a wide range of negotiation, including one-to-one and group negotiating skills. Examples of Possible Course Structure
Course options can include:
· Longer Courses These may be 6 or 12 month on-the-job courses in various subjects which involve the provision of mentoring services to professional workers in their workplace, along with formal course input.
· 20 Lesson Short Courses 2 – 3 lessons per week of 1 to 2 hour duration. These can take place during or outside of normal working hours (e.g. 7am-9am or after 4pm and in the evening)
· 5 Day intensive courses Week long, 9am – 4pm Courses on particular topics
· Workshops Intensive workshops, 9am – 4pm, of 1 – 4 day duration. Course durations and times are readily adaptable to the needs of your organisation.
